More than just Sunday school!

Faith Formation is more than just Sunday school for our youngest members! It is helping our parishioners to see their Catholic faith as a way of life and their relationship with God as an everlasting bond. We invite all to take part in Faith Formation activities including classes and gatherings on Sundays or through the week, worship at Mass, celebration of Sacraments, service activities, and community celebrations. When we come together and encounter others, we encounter Christ. In experiencing how Christ works through others, we can see more clearly how Christ may be working in our own lives. Please consider becoming more involved in a new activity! God always has his hand outstretched to you with an invitation to a deeper relationship.

For children in grades K through 8, our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) classes are offered every Sunday from 8:45-9:45 am, between the two morning Masses, beginning on Catechetical Sunday in September through the end of April.

For our youngest members, we offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 10 am Sunday Mass for children age 3 through first grade.

First Reconciliation/First Communion preparation classes are for children in second grade, including those attending Catholic school, and are held at the same time as PREP classes.

Students must fulfill all requirements of the Sacramental program. Students must be registered in August. An informational parent meeting is held each September, early in the month. Please be sure to listen and watch for announcements on all communication venues (email, Parish Bulletin, Social Media and screens in the Gathering Space) in July and August.

The Diocese requires Sacramental preparation for Confirmation be a 2 year program. This means students who attend St. Francis Central Catholic must successfully complete their 8th grade religion class.

Students who do not attend St. Francis Central Catholic must complete an 8th grade (Sunday at St. Francis de Sales) religion class. For year two, students shall complete the Confirmation program, this includes attending the 10am Mass once a month, sitting as a group. Class follows until 1:00pm.

The OCIA is a discernment and preparation process for adults who wish to be baptized, become a Catholic, or to complete one’s Catholic initiation. It is designed for newcomers to the Catholic faith, including unbaptized adults and baptized Christians from other denominations. Beginning in September, you’ll gather in a small group setting to learn more about the Catholic faith. Weekly sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare you to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter.

Register by completing:

OCIC (Order of Christian Initiation of Children) is for children between the ages of 7 and 14 who haven’t been baptized or received First Holy Communion. OCIC is designed to help complete the Sacramental journey by teaching about the Catholic faith, prepare for the sacraments, and foster a community of faith.

Faith Formation for Adults includes Scripture Study classes held at 9 am on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 5:30 pm focusing on different themes during Lent and Advent. Book discussion groups on relevant topics are also offered. Check the bulletin for current offerings.
