Wednesday 09Sept2026 Day 3
Today was challenging. While, the distance was not great, the 800 meter climb over a mountain pass and down the other side definitely tested my endurance. I saw some beautiful vistas along the way and was reminded of the value of not looking ahead to possible difficulties, When I looked up the steep slope ahead of me, my spirit drooped. But when I looked down at the ground in front of me and just focused on taking one step at a time, I found that I had renewed strength and was not troubled. I am in the town of Arantzazu which is centered around a basilica erected in honor of the Blessed Mother who reportedly appeared to a shepherd on this spot before the time of St. Ignatius. In his autobiography the saint recounts staying here overnight keeping vigil in front of the statue of Our Lady of Arantzazu. Tomorrow brings more elevation, but not so steep. You remain in my prayers.
